Chair Tai Chi  & Qi Gong with Phil Cross

Join Alka Kaminer and Phil Cross for an engaging introduction to Chair Tai Chi.  Phil will share how Tai Chi has changed his life. He will discuss benefits including reducing stress, balance, active relaxation, bone strength, pain reduction, flexibility and much more for everyone regardless of age and health. Learn how Tai Chi originated as a Chinese martial art and how it has evolved to focus on health promotion. 

Demo
The following exercises will be demonstrated:  Open the Door of Life, Gathering the Chi, Hug the Moon, Cloud Hands and Golden Rooster. Participants are highly encouraged to participate.

Philip Cross 
Phil has studied at Peter Kwok's Kung Fu Academy and is trained in Guang Ping Yang Tai Chi. In addition, he has taught at the Blauvelt, Orangeburg, Tappan, Dumont and Edgewater libraries as well as the Rutherford and Nanuet Adult Education. Phil enjoys providing private instruction and sharing his skills in a small setting. He is inspired by how the mindful practice of Tai Chi can improve health, longevity and overall wellbeing. Movement is Life! He is a former Chef and recently became certified as a teaching assistant in Special Education. In his free time, he enjoys, music, creating model airplanes and spending time with his grandson.

Wisdom Gatherings
Wisdom Gatherings focus on conversations to share knowledge on a variety of teachings for holistic wellness, self growth and spiritual awareness. Special guests and Present Wisdom instructors will present and guide these unique classes as scheduling allows.
